It's Been a K-Town Minute!
It seems like only yesterday that we were getting ready for the holidays and sending our K-Town kids off to spend time with their families. Since then, a lot has happened at K-Town: we’ve had new friends join our cohorts, we’ve adjusted and readjusted to new COVID protocols (with help from the City of Hamilton and our amazing families) and currently in the process of enrolling a whole new class of future K-Towners – all the while our educators and children have continued to grow, learn and experience with one another.
From our first day back, our educators and children have set out on their own learning process. In our toddler and tweenie rooms, the first week or two was a period of adjustment. Though there was a lot of uncertainty and fear of the unknown, a lot of the young ones have adjusted well and with each passing day, each of them grows in confidence.
Now, each tweenie and toddler group has jumped feet first (literally) into sensorial and tactile experiences. Our Toddlers have been exploring their sense of touch and learning to differentiate between textures, surfaces and natural components.
Meanwhile, in our preschool rooms, the children are both exploring the foundations of building and construction, albeit in different ways. One group of children have been learning the foundation of building: What is a line? What shapes make up our world? How do we measure? How tall or how small? In our other room, our preschool group are more interested in the materials of building – which has evolved into an exploration of different cultures, climates and the way different people live in different homes.
There has been a lot happening at K-Town, but now with things starting to settle down and our explorations of new knowledge gets more in-depth, we hope to get back to sharing it all with you.
